We all embody an expression given to us as a gift. But most of us will never make a decision to open our gift. Instead, we find ourselves in a job— toiling after peanuts not even making ends meet. So, we settle for a life that is unfulfilled and unhappy.
I worked in a jail–an environment where most of the prisoners had no hope and no aspirations of a better future. I did come in contact with a few that were very happy and satisfied despite being behind bars. This was because they had a gift and no matter where they were—in jail or in the streets– they used their gifts to serve others.
I admired those inmates because they taught me a valuable life lesson: no matter how messy our lives are, we can make a choice to be happy and be a blessing to others. We have a choice to live out our gifts—no matter what. Sadly not everyone will, and most will die not even attempting to open their gift.
I didn’t want to live that life. So, in January of 2014, when I took a maternity leave, my journey as a full-time entrepreneur began.
I truly believe that Entrepreneurship is Spirit-driven.
It is not a decision that one can take unless he has faith. It is the act of jumping out of the seen world into the unseen world and totally depending on faith in God while doing your part. It’s a manifestation of FAITH at WORK, and the results are MIRACLES.
With the decision to leave my full-time civil service job, I was bombarded with a host of unanswered questions:
What about your pension?
What about your medical insurance?
What about your salary?
What about your children’s college fund?
What will happen if this doesn’t work out?
The reality of those questions had me contemplating for weeks, maybe even months.
But ultimately, I made the decision. I was going to use the time to raise my family and built a business. I was going to be a full-time Entrepreneur.
You see what people did not know about my decision is that I trusted in the Creator who gave me gifts. Gifts that I had to discover, develop and use to serve this world.
I had Faith in the Giver and the Gift. As I built the business there are many challenges—lack of funds, time, clients and even knowledge.
But these lack has taught me how to exercise my faith in God.
I am becoming a new person–a better person in my world, in my community, and in my gift. These challenges also taught me to how to trust the Creator to provide all of the resources and make a way, where there seems to be no way.
The reality about being an Entrepreneur is that it’s more about the individual than it is about the business that the you are building. The individual going through the process has to be molded, trained, and preserved in the image of God.
This is the only way you can successfully distribute your gifts and serve others. It is about personal development and exploring your qualities, abilities, talents and offering it as a message, a product, or a service to a world in need of them.
If you are struggling to decide whether or not this is for you, the question I have for you is this: Do you have FAITH in the Giver of your Gifts? It’s going to take your Faith in God–the Giver to make your dream a reality. It’s not about you, it’s not about your clients, it not about the money, it’s about the Gift and the Giver. God gave you a Gift to distribute to the world. He is prepared to teach you how to go about using the gift and enduring the process, but it all starts with your FAITH.
Here is a scripture to mediate on:
Proverbs 18: 16
A gift opens the way and ushers the Giver into the presence of the great men.

Congrats with your new journey Sandy. I have read all of it. As you already know that my husband follows the same path, and it is absolutely very challenging. It was pretty easy for him since he started it before we met for the second time. He has to travel constantly and there was a moment in times I felt so lost. But , at times; things kind of fall into place. As Christians, our faith will be tempted. When we let God take control of the situation with no contraindications whatsoever, you will be surprised to see how strong you can become despite the odds. Very inspirational SANDY. GOOD JOB and stay blessed from the giver.

Marie, thank you for sharing your husband’s story. As you stated our Faith will be tempted because it is our foundation. That doesn’t mean we don’t have challenges, it means we are bigger than the challenges. We are conquerors in Christ.
