Games are supposed to be fun and exciting but this game isn’t. We’ve all played it before, and it’s the worst game ever. You know that game where you always seem to be the “winning victim”?
Everyone is a problem but you. Nothing is wrong with you. You’re just “almost” perfect.
I hate to put it to you this way but, the bible tells us we’ve all fall short. Not one is perfect. Not one is righteous. No one always wins.
Though we know this, many of us still resort to blaming others. Let’s face it, it’s much more easier to blame than it is to not.
But, where did this behavior come from? I want to believe it’s embedded into our free will nature, and was activated when disobedience entered our lives.
Let’s go back to Adam and Eve. Everything gets clear when we go there. When God questioned why they had eaten from the forbidden tree, both blamed something or someone else. Eve blamed the serpent and Adam blamed God.
Adam, who God gave dominion over everything including Eve, said this to God,
“The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
You see, even Adam played it.
But here’s the truth, none of us are any different. I would’ve done the same thing–blame someone else. I mean really in Adam’s case this was a matter of life or death.
But since, Adam couldn’t lie about it, he did the alternative: he played the game of blame. Unfortunately that didn’t solve the problem nor did it exempt him from the consequence at stake.
Does the Blame Game work?
The blame game doesn’t work and will only result in a losing situation for all involved. No one wins in this game because ultimately everyone loses.
If we are going to evolve into anything worth living and dying for we must learn how to take responsibility for our actions even at the cost of punishment.
Let’s take a look at Job. When God referred to Job as a blameless man, this was because he took full responsibility for everything that happened to him and through him. Job even took responsibility for the behaviors of his rebellious children. If anyone had the right to play the blame game, Job did. But, He didn’t. Instead, He chose to trust God. He knew that God would see him through. And God did.
Imagine what would happen if Job decided to blame someone or something else. Well, for one he would have probably remained in his state of despair longer than what God had intended.
How many of us stay in our state of despair longer than what God intended? Only because we hadn’t taken full responsibility for everything that happens to us.
Let’s remember that God is always in control. No weapon form against you will prosper.
Job was disease stricken. Lost all of his children and wealth. Death was intended for Job. Although Job lost everything, God gave him a longer life and restored him higher than he was before.
Image what God can do in our lives if we only decide to take full responsibility knowing that God is God all by Himself.
When you decide to take full responsibility for your life and everything that had happened to you and through you, you’re saying “God I trust you”. Everything changes from there, but more importantly you will change for the better.
With Love always,
Sandy
